• Apple Tree - Baldwin

**Requires another apple variety with a similar bloom period for pollination**

Baldwin is a classic American heirloom apple dating back to a chance seedling discovered around 1740 near Wilmington, Massachusetts. Popularized by Colonel Loammi Baldwin, it became a New England favorite in the 19th century for its beauty and keeping ability.

Hardy to USDA Zone 4-7, it performs best in cooler climates but can struggle in extreme northern winters. The thick skin provides natural resistance to pests and diseases, though it may show some susceptibility to scab in wet areas.

Grow in full sun with well-drained soil; vigorous upright tree needs pruning to maintain shape. Medium to large fruit with yellow skin heavily flushed bright red. Flesh is pale yellow, very firm, crisp, coarse-grained, juicy, with a sprightly sweet-tart and aromatic flavor.

Excellent keeper — stores reliably for 4-5 months in cool conditions, making it ideal for winter use.
