Mitch Gala is a more red variant of the popular Gala apple, originating from New Zealand in the 1930s, with similar traits but potentially improved hardiness in some selections.

Hardy to USDA Zone 5-8, productive and vigorous. Moderate resistance to scab and fire blight, but susceptible to mildew in humid areas.

Grow in full sun with well-drained soil; pollinate with mid-bloom apples. Medium fruit with red-striped yellow skin, crisp, juicy flesh, and sweet flavor with hints of vanilla and pear.

Good storage — lasts 3-4 months refrigerated.
